Conveyor Belt System

You are here:

Conveyor belt systems are used to transport goods and materials from one place to another within a facility or between different locations. They are used in industries such as manufacturing, food processing, packaging, mining, transportation, and more.

There are several types of conveyor belt systems, each designed for specific purposes:

Flat Belt Conveyors: These are the most common type of conveyor belts. They consist of a continuous flat belt made of rubber, fabric, or plastic. Flat belt conveyors are used for general material handling, such as moving boxes and packages in a warehouse or factory setting.

Roller Bed Belt Conveyors: In this type of conveyor, the belt rests on a series of rollers, providing a smooth surface for moving heavy loads.

Slider Bed Belt Conveyors: Similar to roller bed conveyors, but with a flat surface for the belt to slide on. Slider bed conveyors are often used for assembly line operations or where the conveyor needs to be washed down frequently.

Modular Belt Conveyors: These belts are made of individual interlocking modules, typically made of hard plastic. They are often used in food processing and packaging industries.

Wire Mesh Belt Conveyors: These conveyors use a metal mesh belt, allowing air or liquids to pass through. They are commonly used in industries such as baking, drying, and cooling.

Cleated Belt Conveyors: Cleats or profiles are added to the belt to keep items secure while inclined or moving on an incline. They are used to transport loose materials such as grains or chemicals.

Magnetic Belt Conveyors: These conveyors use a belt with magnets embedded in it to transport magnetic materials such as metal parts.

Trough Belt Conveyors: The belt is supported by idlers between two pulleys, creating a trough shape. Trough belt conveyors are used to convey bulk materials, such as ore or coal.

Bucket Conveyors: This type of conveyor uses buckets to transport bulk material vertically.

Overhead Conveyors: These systems are suspended from the ceiling, allowing for greater floor space utilization. They are often used for garment handling, automotive parts handling, or painting processes.

The basic components of a conveyor belt system include:

Conveyor Belt: This is the actual belt that moves the material from one location to another. It is usually made from a durable material like rubber, PVC, or metal, and it can be flat or structured to accommodate different types of goods.

Conveyor Rollers: These are cylindrical rollers located underneath the conveyor belt. They reduce friction and facilitate the smooth movement of the belt.

Pulleys: A pulley is a wheel on an axle or shaft that is designed to support movement and change the direction of the conveyor belt. These are often located at both ends of the conveyor belt.

Motor: The motor provides the power to move the conveyor belt. It is typically an electric motor that drives the pulleys or rollers, causing the belt to move.

Belt Support: This includes various support structures and components such as idlers, slider beds, and support rods that help to maintain the alignment and proper tension of the conveyor belt.

Belt Cleaner: This component helps to keep the conveyor belt clean by removing any residual material that may stick to the belt during the transportation process.

Skirting: Skirting is a rubber seal that is installed along the sides of the conveyor belt to contain the transported material and prevent spillage.
